A 68-year-old man was brutally beaten by a group of 11 teenagers after falling asleep on the Chicago subway. The state attorney’s office confirmed they “wouldn’t touch” the case for a disturbing reason, which was the ultimate insult.
According to a community advocate, the attack is the most recent in a string of violent crimes against elderly residents. However, despite capturing the horrific incident on camera, the state attorney’s office shockingly admitted that it didn’t have plans to go after the suspects.
The Police have confirmed that 11 teens attacked the defenseless victim in a vicious manner, leaving a 68-year-old man lying in a pool of blood. As the incident happened on February 3, 2020, close to the Argyle station; the near-fatal beating occurred in a passenger car on Chicago’s red line train.

Before swinging at one of the groups of teenagers and missing, which prompted the gang to attack, video footage captured the elderly man dozing off. Only to be awakened by a teen girl trying to pickpocket him. The victim says he was afraid but manages to tell them, “don’t even think about it.”
The pickpocket suspect then returns with a group of friends, landing countless blows on the victim’s face and torso, with one male suspect even kicking the victim in the head repeatedly while even pulling himself up on the train’s bars.
However, prior to that, the pickpocket pummels the elder man dragging him to the ground before running to another car to return with a gang, as Bystanders can be seen watching.
But the most disturbing is that “no arrests have been made,” as the spokesperson of the Chicago Police Department explained, claiming that the suspects remain on the loose because the victim “was unable to identify his attacker(s) due to his injuries,” although the attack is being investigated.
And that’s not all, the response from the Cook County State Attorney’s Office was even more alarming. When asked about the comment, the state attorney’s office simply answered, “We are unable to comment.”
A police source said that the state attorney’s office disclosed that it “wouldn’t touch” the case if the victim is unable to identify suspects or is unable to cooperate with investigators.
Police confirmed that the victim suffered blunt force trauma. The 68-year-old victim was left lying in a pool of blood until help arrived at the Argyle station from train personnel. He was then rushed to the hospital and treated for lacerations to his head and body soreness. After conducting an interview, authorities were able to obtain his account of the assault.
Disturbingly, despite other passengers being plainly visible in the video, there is only one witness listed on the police report. And as Authorities tracked down a group of teens near the station and detained them for questioning and after gathering reports, the suspects were, however, released and sent back to their homes.
However, it’s even more unsettling that the other passengers, who easily outnumber the attackers, are willing to stand by as someone is being beaten, as disconcerting as it is to know that there are roving mobs of teens targeting vulnerable victims on the subway.
