Pelosi jokes that she could use her stilettos as weapons and battle as “Street Fighter” she used to be on January 6 Incident.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told USA Today that the Capitol mob would have had a “Well, I’m pretty tough. I’m a street fighter. They would have had a battle on their hands.”
“That’s what they were setting out to do,” Pelosi said about the insurrectionists trying to reach her and other politicians.
Besides, she said with a laugh, lifting a foot clad in her classic 4-inch-high stilettos, “I would have had these” to use as weapons. According to USA Today.
The interview took place on the 100th day with her as speaker of the 117th Congress and she described what she believes is a historic start for the new Congress and President Joe Biden, one “on par” in ambition and impact with the first 100 days of FDR and LBJ.
Pelosi lauded Biden and called him more skilled in Washington politics and bolder in policy than many expected, despite the fact that he served seven terms as a Senator and two terms as Vice President.
“Transformative and visionary and experienced,” Pelosi described Biden.
Regarding a 9/11 style panel for the Capitol riot, Pelosi said she would soon introduce legislation to harden the Capitol’s security, indicating she would support the installation of retractable fencing to be deployed only when security threats demanded.
For the first time, Pelosi also suggested that she might move to establish a select committee to investigate if efforts to create the 9/11-style commission failed.
Days after the incident, fellow congresswomanspoke about the trauma induced by the insurrectionists.
During a live stream on Instagram, Ocasio-Cortez said she thought she was going to die during the rioting. The New York Democrat called the event an opportunity for people to talk about trauma, adding that there had been counselors and physicians in the House to talk to people after they were exposed to trauma during the rioting.
