Two Texas men have been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery after they caught up with a teenager who was playing the prank of ringing their doorbell and running away. Michael Aguero and Richard Dietz were taken into custody on Friday, with each of their bails set at $50,000, according to KSAT-TV.

The incident occurred on Jan. 14 in San Antonio when a group of teenagers were playing the age-old game of ringing doorbells and running away, also known as “ding-dong ditch.” As the group ran away, one of the teens fell behind and was caught by Dietz, who demanded that the teen get on their knees. Aguero then arrived, holding a gun and asking for identification.

Fortunately, the teen was able to convince the two men that they were not up to any mischief and was able to retrieve their cell phone that had been taken during the encounter. The San Antonio Police Department reported that the incident caused a buzz on Twitter.

This is not the first time that adults in San Antonio have taken things too far. In January, Alexander McCormick was arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he held three teenagers at gunpoint, including his son’s girlfriend. McCormick took the girl to a house where his son was and later dropped her off at a park.

The incident involving Aguero and Dietz also raises questions about the use of firearms to address what is essentially a harmless prank. It is fortunate that the situation did not escalate into a tragic incident.

The incident has sparked a discussion about the dangers of vigilantism and the need to address minor infractions in a more appropriate manner. It is important for people to understand that taking the law into their own hands is not only illegal but also dangerous.

It is crucial that law enforcement officials and the judicial system work to ensure that justice is served in a fair and appropriate manner. In this case, Aguero and Dietz will face the consequences of their actions. It is up to the rest of us to learn from this incident and work towards a safer and more just society.
