You’ll never be recognized how beautiful she is now!
These parents are dedicated to reaffirming that their daughter is beyond beautiful.
Theresa and Tony Hall’s daughter, Cody, was born with an extremely rare birthmark so large that it changed her life for many years. Hers was a severe facial deformity that distorted half of her face.
Baby Cody was born with a hemangioma under her left eye. This condition causes stem cells to become benign tumors. Cody’s illness left her with a giant mark on her face.
Her parents loved her from the moment they saw her, and they wanted to change her life for the better. They took her out for long walks, and they allowed her to openly explore the world. Onlookers, however, were less than nice to the Halls.
“In England, our neighbor asked my wife if we put a bag over [Cody’s] head when we took her out,” Tony recalled. “The hardest thing is the stares and comments from the ignorant people in this world who don’t understand what’s going on with her.”
After initial checkups, doctors told Hall’s parents that there was not much they could do to help until she turned six. However, her family refused to accept her fate and researched on their own.
As time went by, Cody’s condition was only growing worse. She would need surgery to heal her condition. After multiple laser treatments, the doctor was able to remove Cody’s growth.
Eventually, they discovered a surgeon in Roosevelt Hospital, New York, who operated on kids with such a condition. After raising enough money, Hall received her first treatment at the age of one in 1993.
For the next 14 years, she went on to have 18 other surgeries that included eye surgery, facelifts, skin grafts, liposuction, and rhinoplasty, among others.
Despite the downsides, Hall had a great support system in the form of her family and close friends, who stood by her through it all.
Eventually, things turned out for the better, and at the age of 25, she got her “happy ending.” In 2017, Hall tied the knot with her boyfriend of eight years, Lewis Holt.
They got married at St. Michael’s Church in Northamptonshire, England, and went viral on media platforms. Hall shared:
“It was an emotional day, and there were some tears, especially when I saw Lewis at the altar, but only tears of joy. I just want to show people that there is a happy ending.”
Aside from her love life, Hall’s social life has also gotten better. She shared, “Over the years, people have realized I am who I am. I get people coming up to me in the street and saying, ‘Well done,’ and that they are pleased for me.”
After years of enduring painful procedures, Hall now works at Kettering General Hospital’s surgical ward and hopes she doesn’t need any more operations on her face.
The Hall family would not have been able to afford these expensive procedures had it not been for the help of strangers everywhere. Through their fundraising campaign, they received $376,000 for Cody’s medical costs. The family was so grateful for this wonderful opportunity for their daughter.
Having a congenital disability sometimes happens among children. However, it does not make them less of a person who should be treated with respect and kindness.
