Families come in all kinds of different shapes and forms, with all kinds of different ways of doing things that might seem strange to outsiders.
Just like this featured story for today, a mum has revealed both she and her mother breastfeed her 10-month-old baby – and they have no time for strangers who label it “weird.”
Julia Cannon, a 22-year-old young mother and nurse, and Angela Owen, Julia’s 47-year-old mother, breastfeed Julia’s 10-month-old daughter Naomi.
Julia, a big advocate of breastfeeding, says it all started with Naomi was just four months old.
“[My mom] always thought – never stops – and asked me how I would feel if she tried to breastfeed my baby,” Julia says. “I don’t remember how it happened, but I didn’t miss a moment of trying. Naomi was going through a difficult phase of feeding. here was the conclusion after that. “
From that moment on, it is Julia’s mother who is breastfeeding her granddaughter now:
“It was extremely impressive to know that your mother, from the same breast that has nourished me, to feed my daughter as well. It was magical and made me i feel good! “
“People say it’s weird, unnatural and gross,” nurse Julia told The Sun. “But what is more natural than feeding a baby? It’s how we all started out. Wet-nursing has been around since the beginning of time.”
Julia has been breastfeeding her daughter from the time of her birth. Because the baby could cluster feed, which means she eats a lot all at once, Julia’s milk source would deplete.
“She wanted to be on the boob 24/7,” she told the publication. “It was like a comfort thing.”
Eventually, granny Angela offered to breastfeed. It happened when Julia stopped by her mother’s house for a break and a shower. Naomi wanted to breastfeed, and Angela obliged her.
“I was in the shower, and she needed a feed,” explained Julia. “My mother had already asked me how I would feel about her breastfeeding Naomi. She still produces milk, and we knew she still produces. I was okay with it.”
Although the moment was certainly sweet, Julie’s mom only feeds her when she babysits now.
“It was extremely empowering as a woman to know my mom was feeding my daughter from the same breast milk that fed me for years,” she said. “It was magical and made me feel so good!”
And yes, this photo confirms it certainly takes a village to raise a child! So heartwarming!
While some people find it outrageous, other mothers are jealous. They know how much of a burden breastfeeding can be and wish they had a “wet nurse” to share some of the responsibility.
