John McAfee, the anti-government tech tycoon, was discovered dead in his detention cell in Barcelona, Spain, today.
Last October, at the international airport in Barcelona McAfee was arrested on allegations of tax evasion, which are currently ongoing in federal court in Tennessee and carry a maximum sentence of 30 years in jail.
Since then, he’s been imprisoned in Spain, and he’s tried to escape extradition by saying he’d be politically persecuted in the US because of his critiques of the IRS.
Furthermore, McAfee said a year ago that he had dirt on American lawmakers and government leaders that would expose their massive wrongdoing and “bring the US down.”
In his prison cell in Barcelona, Spain, McAfee was found dead of suspected suicide, just after they approved his extradition to the United States for the criminal tax evasion charges.
McAfee died within hours of the extradition ruling, the Spanish newspaper El Mundo reported.
According to McAfee’s lawyer, his client apparently hanged himself.
This unearthed tweet from McAfee back in October is what’s so chilling about.
It says,
“I am content in here. I have friends. The food is good. All is well. Know that if I hang myself, a la Epstein, it will be no fault of mine.”

The food is good. All is well.
Know that if I hang myself, a la Epstein, it will be no fault of mine.

Less than a week ago, He wrote this message to the US government.
“The US believes I have hidden crypto. I wish I did but it has dissolved through the many hands of Team McAfee (your belief is not required), and my remaining assets are all seized. My friends evaporated through fear of association. I have nothing. Yet, I regret nothing.”

That message from “Epstein” is definitely creepy and frightening.
McAfee was a very “eccentric” man, who often said outlandish things, it’s fair to note that. Truth be told, he could have been planning his own suicide and wanted to go out with a big “scary” bang when he made that tweet… Who can say?
He could also have been “Epsteined.” We’ll probably never know if he was or not.
It’s a tweet that definitely will cause some pause, and a lot of conspiracy theories, and for very good reason.
