A college student and her stepfather were involved in a fender bender in Georgetown, South Carolina.

Police say after the accident, the person who rear-ended them exited his vehicle and shot them and another person.  Both the stepfather and daughter died at the scene.

Charles Nicholas Wall, 45, and his stepdaughter Laura Ashley Anderson, 21, were shot and killed following a car accident in Georgetown, South Carolina. A third shooting victim, Paul McConnell, survived the road rage attack, according to WPDE-TV.

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Ty Sheem Ha Sheem Walters III, 23, from Moncks Corner.

The shooting happened around 5 p.m. on Aug. 24 when the stepfather went to deliver keys to Anderson after she accidentally locked herself out of her newly purchased home. She had just moved in and was selling an old set of bunk beds to someone online, who was coming over to pick up the items.

Wall’s car was allegedly rear-ended as he turned into the driveway of Anderson’s home. Walters reportedly got out of his vehicle and shot Wall, Anderson, and McConnell.

“It actually happened in her yard, waiting for the keys to get to her,” Lynn Lambert, a close friend of the family, told WPDE-TV.

The wife and mother of the victims, Kimberly Wall, wrote her true feelings on Facebook when she shared: “I’m devastated. Heartbroken. Confused. Angry. I don’t understand. Who shoots innocent people?”

When police arrived on the scene, they learned that one of the victims had already been transported to the hospital while a second was being given CPR.  They then noted a third person who was walking around the area in an altered mental state with a gunshot wound to his left wrist.

Police arrest warrants allege that Walters fired his gun at Wall first, which struck him at least twice, about his head and torso.  He then fired and struck Anderson in the head at least once.  McConnell was also struck and then hit in the head by Walters.

McConnell is expected to survive.

Walters immediately fled the scene and attempted to hide in a nearby set of woods. Police set up a perimeter in the area and deployed canine units to assist in the search. Walters was located and taken into custody.

Walters is now behind bars facing charges of murder, attempted murder, and weapon possession during a violent crime.

The judge denied bond for Walters on the weapons charge. A bond hearing for the murder charge is scheduled to take place at the circuit court in Georgetown County. Officials said it could take a least a month before the bond hearing happens.

The devastated mother of Anderson said, “I’m having to bury one of my children and my husband. It’s such a freak thing. I don’t know why this would happen. I just don’t understand. It’s just devastating. I don’t know how we’re going to go forward.”
