At the recent 11th Hour Faith Leaders Meeting, Rev. Franklin Graham rallied attendees around a simple yet powerful truth: if America is to recover from its current turmoil, God must be at the center of it all. Speaking to a packed audience in Concord, North Carolina, Graham, the son of the legendary evangelist Billy Graham, opened with a question that resonated with everyone present: “Have you ever thought our country would be in such trouble? The only hope for this country is God.”
With the conviction of a true believer, Graham said, “I come here tonight as a private citizen and as a preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ,” before briefly sharing the message of salvation through faith in Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. “The only hope is if we confess our sins and turn and believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,” he declared, bringing the focus back to the spiritual foundation he believes is crucial for the nation.
Graham then addressed the presence of Donald Trump, acknowledging the energy that the Republican frontrunner has brought to American politics. But he cautioned that rallies and favorable poll numbers alone won’t secure victory in this election. “It’s going to be God,” Graham asserted. “There’s a spiritual element that’s at work here. There are dark forces arrayed against this man,” he said, pointing out the fierce opposition Trump has faced. “They’ve tried to put him in prison, tried to assassinate him twice. He’s attacked every day in the media. And the only hope for Donald J. Trump and our nation is God.”
Quoting Psalm 20, Graham reminded those gathered, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” With that, he invited the room to rise and pray for Trump, encouraging them to pray as they felt led. “Pray that God would give him wisdom, that God would protect him, that God would guide and direct his every step, and that God would bless this nation once again.”
As the evening continued, Trump took to the stage with Lee Greenwood’s iconic “God Bless the USA” playing. The former president pledged that, if re-elected, he would immediately establish a commission to investigate anti-Christian bias within the government—an initiative that would certainly resonate with those who believe America needs to reclaim its faith-centered roots.
