It’s been a week since Donald Trump trounced Kamala Harris in the presidential election, and the Democrats are still reeling. Not only did Trump dominate the Electoral College, but he also secured the popular vote—a double victory that sent shockwaves through their ranks. Adding insult to injury, Republicans swept the Senate and are poised to take the House.
The Democratic Party, long smug in its grip on key voter blocs, is now grappling with the unthinkable: they’ve lost the trust of the working class. Former House Judiciary Committee counsel Julian Epstein summed it up bluntly on MSNBC, describing the election as a wholesale rejection of not just the Democratic Party but the entire “professional elite.”
Epstein laid it out clearly: the Democrats’ cozy alliance with Hollywood, Wall Street, Silicon Valley, universities, and mainstream media has alienated the very voters they once claimed to champion. In his words, the Democrats have become the establishment, and working-class Americans of all races finally united to say, “Enough.”
EV Mandates and Economic Blind Spots
One glaring example of the Democrats’ tone-deaf approach? Their electric vehicle (EV) mandates. Epstein pointed to the damage these mandates have inflicted on the auto industry and the jobs of countless working Americans. For a party that claims to fight for the “little guy,” pushing policies that decimate blue-collar industries reeks of hypocrisy.
“You look at the auto numbers, you look at the losses in the auto industry because of the EV mandates, and it’s extraordinary,” Epstein said. And he’s right. While elites pat themselves on the back for their green energy initiatives, everyday Americans are left to pick up the pieces.
A Referendum on Biden-Harris Leadership
This election was more than a loss for Kamala Harris; it was a referendum on the entire Biden administration. Under their leadership, the economy has floundered, inflation has spiraled, and the border crisis has reached a breaking point. Millions of illegal immigrants have poured into the country while millions of law-abiding citizens struggle to afford groceries. Meanwhile, crime has surged in many cities, leaving Americans feeling unsafe in their own neighborhoods.
And what were Biden and Harris doing during this chaos? Pushing woke policies and virtue signaling instead of addressing real problems. Harris’s campaign message of “change” was laughable. Americans didn’t see her as a symbol of change—they saw her as a continuation of the failed policies that have crippled the nation over the past four years.
So, voters made a bold choice for actual change. They turned to Trump, the candidate who spoke directly to their concerns and frustrations.
Gains Among Black and Hispanic Voters
One of the most striking outcomes of this election was Trump’s increased support among Black and Hispanic voters. Epstein admitted that Republicans have successfully “stolen” ground from Democrats by focusing on issues that resonate with the working class: jobs, trade, crime, opioids, and energy policy.
“Everyone is moving away from the Democratic Party other than professional elites,” Epstein said. This trend is undeniable. The Democratic coalition, once a fortress, is crumbling because its leaders stopped listening to the people.
A Bright Future Ahead
The Democrats pushed too far left, and now they’re paying the price. For years, they relied on identity politics and lofty promises to hold their coalition together. But in the end, those empty gestures weren’t enough to mask their failures.
For the first time in years, the American people have reason to hope. This election was a turning point—a moment when voters rejected the elites and stood up for real leadership. The future is looking brighter than it has in a long time, and Trump’s victory is just the beginning.
