No one is going to stop actress Rose McGowan from blowing up Twitter feeds by speaking her mind, even if it’s about Oprah Winfrey.
McGowan had very strong criticism for famous talk show host Oprah Winfrey on social media, slamming the entertainment icon for her ties to convicted sexual predator Harvey Weinstein, among other allegations.
McGowan in her now-viral tweet also pointed out that Oprah has close ties to Russell Simmons, a record company executive and music producer who is also alleged to have a long and disturbing history of sexual misconduct.
“I am glad more are seeing the ugly truth of @Oprah. I wish she were real, but she isn’t. From being pals with Weinstein to abandoning & destroying Russell Simmons’s victims, she is about supporting a sick power structure for personal gain, she is as fake as they come. #lizard,” tweeted McGowan.
Harvey Weinstein was found guilty of two counts in February 2020 and is on remand. Russell Simmons was also charged with sexual abuse by 20 women. The music producer has denied the allegations and held back in recent years.
McGowan’s criticism appears to be related to Oprah’s involvement in the 2020 documentary, On the Record, which focuses on allegations of sexual abuse and harassment against Russell Simmons. This is because the presenter initially held the position of executive producer of the film, but did not fill that role as he cited differences from the people who directed the same.
According to Fox News, McGowan has previously also criticized the Time’s Up movement, in which Oprah’s organizations have donated possibly $500,000 or more to fight back against sexual harassment in the workplace. Time’s Up was purportedly founded as a part of the massive #MeToo online movement.
However, it appears that the organization wound up allied with former Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo, who has since resigned in the wake of a scathing report compiled by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
The investigative documents found a preponderance of the evidence that Cuomo was also engaging in a pattern of systemic sexually predatory behavior.
McGowan has recently found herself caught up in the California Gavin Newsome election recall scandal. According to conservative sources on Twitter, she was approached by Newsome’s wife and asked to keep silent.
