If you are a regular traveler using the airline as a mode of transportation, you’ll probably be aware of the constant changes in their policies. It could be carry-on luggage, baggage fees, and the age at which children can fly.

According to CNN, a couple who intended to take a flight on Tuesday from Tel Aviv, Israel, to Brussels appeared to be experiencing some confusion. They didn’t have a boarding pass for their baby but the couple had tickets for their Ryanair flight and Belgian passports.

The Israeli Airport Authority told CNN that they arrived at Ben Gurion International Airport “without a ticket for the baby” and were late for their flight. At that point, check-in was closed, so the couple departed in the direction of their gate, leaving the infant behind and the airport employees didn’t immediately notice.

The airport authority said, “The couple left the infant seat with the baby and ran toward the security checks at Terminal 1 in an attempt to reach the boarding gate for the flight.”

However, Staff members then noticed the stroller next to the check-in counter and pulled back the baby’s blanket. The Ryanair station manager reportedly stated that all of the staff members were shocked by a report from Israel’s N12 that was translated. The manager remarked, “We have never encountered anything like this.”

The couple and the baby were briefly questioned by police. Israeli police told CNN that when their officers arrived, the situation seemed to have been resolved, as the outlet reported.

A police spokesman said, “The baby was with the parents and there’s no further investigation.”

If the baby is sat in an adult’s lap, the Ryanair website states there is a price of €/£25, or roughly $30, for each newborn each one-way travel. If the child will be riding in a car seat, a ticket is required.

If there are young children involved, Traveling can sometimes be stressful.

However, here are some suggestions from Healthline to help make the journey a little less difficult:

  • Consider waiting until an infant is at least 3 months old when his or her immune system is better developed.
  • Be aware of the airline’s policy regarding strollers, car seats, and baggage that will be checked.
  • Consider changing the baby’s diaper before boarding the flight.
  • Attempt to select flight times that coincide with the baby’s sleep patterns.
  • Attempt to choose flights that allow for feeding the baby during takeoff and landing.
  • Choose an aisle seat if possible.
  • Make a point of arriving at the gate at least 30 minutes early.
  • Pack more baby supplies than you expect to need.
