After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, a pro-abortion doctor from San Francisco intends to establish an offshore abortion clinic in the Gulf of Mexico to offer abortions to women in states with pro-life laws.
Dr. Meg Autry, an obstetrician, gynecologist, and professor at the University of California in San Francisco proposed using boats to circumvent southern abortion laws by performing the procedure in federal waters. She is also the head of PRROWESS, which stands for Protecting Reproductive Rights of Women Endangered by State Statutes.
Apparently, her legal team suggests that “there is a swath of federal water where licensed providers could safely and legally provide abortions out of reach of state laws.”
The proposal is similar to a ship led by OB-GYN Rebecca Gomperts that spent some time in 2009 cruising across Europe. The same basic idea underlies it: women from (formerly) anti-abortion countries like Ireland are picked up and transported somewhere to have an abortion. Evidently, the concept is not at all new.
And now it’s coming to the United States.
“There’s been an assault on reproductive rights in our country, and I’m a lifelong advocate for reproductive health and choice. We have to create options and be thoughtful and creative to help people in restrictive states get the health care they deserve,” Autry said.
By the standards of the left, getting a ship to sail into open water so that women can kill their children is considered “health care.”
In a report by CBS News, the project is expected to cost at least $20 million. The PRROWESS website asks supporters to donate toward the project. Autry is working with a team of attorneys and looking for a donated boat to get the project underway.
“There’s operational logistics, there’s the whole idea of maritime law and then there’s obviously security, there’s liability, I mean the challenges are countless,” Autry said.
The Supreme Court in a 6-3 decision overturned Roe v. Wade, the landmark ruling that established the constitutional right to abortion.
In the Supreme Court’s majority opinion for Dobbs, the Justices wrote that the U.S. Constitution does not protect the right to abortion and determined that Roe and Casey were wrongly decided.
“The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled, and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives,” the opinion stated.
However, the Left will never accept it, they will resort to anything at all in order to safeguard their ability to murder babies.
