On Monday, Florida’s top health official said the state would recommend against the COVID-19 vaccine for healthy children.
Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo, leader of Florida’s Department of Health, made the announcement at a roundtable event organized by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.
The recommendation states that “healthy children aged 5 to 17 may not benefit from receiving the currently available COVID-19 vaccine,” and adds that “there are certain risks to consider that may outweigh benefits among healthy children.”
Lapado said during the more than 90-minute panel discussion with DeSantis:
“We’re kind of scraping at the bottom of the barrel, particularly with healthy kids, in terms of actually being able to quantify with any accuracy and any confidence the even potential of benefit.”
Last week, a study based on New York state health records suggested that the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was less effective at preventing infection in children aged 5 to 11.
During the panel discussion, the department officials cited studies that show the efficacy of the vaccine declining over time and another study that found cases of heart inflammation in children 12 to 17 after getting the vaccine.
However, the state department did still recommend that children with underlying health conditions or comorbidities should consider the vaccine with their doctor.
Especially when the COVID-19 vaccine shows rapid decline in efficacy among children, and many already have natural immunity after two years.

The roundtable discussion is entitled “The Curtain Close on COVID Theater” wherein Gov. Ron DeSantis acts as the Moderator of the event, this event was held in West Palm Beach featuring 10 guest speakers including doctors and researchers from across the country.
Many in attendance at this event were from government agencies in the DeSantis administration, such as the Department of Children and Families, and the Department of Economic Opportunity.
There’s a huge screen behind the panelists that displays the video feed of attendees.
The 90 minutes discussion was focused on various COVID-related topics, covering mask requirements, business/school closures, and vaccine mandates. The consensus among the speakers was that these COVID policies have caused more harm than good.
Tracy Beth Høeg, a California doctor on the roundtable panel, discussed a study she was involved with that focused on the risks of myocarditis after some people, primarily boys, got the COVID vaccine.
Dr. Høeg said:
“Even for boys who are previously healthy who haven’t been previously infected, we didn’t find that there was a benefit (to get vaccinated), there was actually the overall risk of giving them the second dose.”

Dr. Joseph Fraiman, a panelist from Louisiana, argued that there is no “clear benefit” for children to get the jab since the severe vaccine side-effects outweigh the mild symptoms caused by the disease.
“If you have a healthy child, the chances of that child dying are incredibly low, essentially close to zero if not actually zero,” said Fraiman. “We have no idea if vaccines reduce transmission in kids or in adults.”
Many of the panelists cited natural immunity as a major reason for children not to get vaccines.
One study from the University of Utah found that 50% of pediatric COVID cases don’t present any symptoms. A German study found that children release as little as 25% of virus particles as adults do, suggesting they’re much less likely to spread the virus. Finally, data from New York state officials last month also reveals that the vaccine is only 12% effective at preventing COVID infection for children ages 5 to 11.
Considering this evidence, why must healthy children be subjected to a vaccine that will pose more potential threats to them than the virus it’s supposedly protecting them against?
