It’s not every day that the mainstream media fact-checks Nancy Pelosi. For years, the liberal press has given her and her Democratic colleagues a free pass, while reserving their scrutiny for Republicans. But following Donald Trump’s decisive victory over Kamala Harris in last week’s presidential election, it seems even left-leaning outlets are rethinking their approach.
Trump not only dominated Harris in the Electoral College but also won the popular vote—a double blow to the Democrats. Perhaps this wake-up call is why The Washington Post delivered a rare fact-check against Pelosi this week, challenging her misleading claims about immigration under the Biden administration.
Speaking to The New York Times, Pelosi claimed fewer migrants crossed the border under President Biden than under Trump.
“I don’t think we were clear enough by saying fewer people came in under President Joe Biden than came under Donald Trump,” Pelosi said.
But The Washington Post wasn’t buying it. They labeled her statement false, declaring it “documented fact” that at least four times as many migrants entered the U.S. under Biden than Trump. The outlet went further, awarding Pelosi a stinging “Four Pinocchios” for her claim.
Biden’s Border Failure
The border crisis spiraled out of control under the Biden-Harris administration, and Americans took notice. Despite Democrats’ best efforts to spin the narrative, millions of illegal migrants flooded into the U.S. during their tenure, creating chaos and straining resources. Meanwhile, millions of American families struggled just to make ends meet.
It’s no wonder voters rejected the status quo and opted for change in the form of Donald Trump. He is, without question, the leader best equipped to get our border crisis under control and prioritize the needs of hardworking Americans.
Pelosi’s Excuses Continue
Pelosi didn’t stop at making excuses about immigration. She also tried to shift blame for Harris’s crushing loss, suggesting that Biden’s late exit from the race hurt Harris’s chances.
“Had the president gotten out sooner, there may have been other candidates in the race,” Pelosi said. “Kamala, I think, still would have won, but she may have been stronger, having taken her case to the public sooner.”
Let’s be real: neither Biden nor Harris had a chance against Trump after the past four years of failure. The American people were tired of the inflation, the crime, and the border crisis that defined their administration.
Even The Washington Post’s fact-check suggests that some liberals are beginning to acknowledge what the rest of the country already knows—Trump’s win was not just decisive, but necessary. It’s time to clean up the mess Democrats left behind and get America back on track.
