A Michigan man who police say attempted to kidnap a girl got a surprise of his own: a fight and a cup of coffee in his face.
Four young girls, aged 11 to 14, from Michigan, were nearly kidnapped when they went out at night to a gas station. The girls were followed by a man who grabbed one of them. Luckily, the girls fought back with all they had including a cup of coffee. The man involved is thought to have wanted to sexually assault the girls.
The suspect, Bruce Hipkins, 22, of Tuscola County, Michigan was captured on surveillance cameras while he was inside a Speedway gas station at about 10 p.m. He was watching and following four girls between the ages of 11 and 14.
“He looked really weird,” Allison Eickhoff told Inside Edition. “He grabbed me, and he, like, covered my mouth, and he grabbed my head. He said, ‘You’re coming with me,’ and I was, like, in shock.”
Her sister Lauren recalled how she screamed in fright but immediately jumped into action and shared that their father had told them to fight back whenever they felt as though they were in actual and real danger.
However, the man was much bigger than the preteen girls and could not be stopped by their efforts alone. That’s when one of the girls came up with a solution that stopped the kidnapper in his tracks.
“I grabbed my drink and chucked it at his head. I tried, I punched him in the head,” Lauren said. “Seeing that your little sister was going to get taken is very scary.”

The girls were able to escape unharmed to a nearby hotel and called for help.
Later on, officers were able to track Hipkins and arrested him on charges of unlawful imprisonment, assault, and battery, and two counts of criminal sexual conduct, the police revealed. Hipkins is currently being held at the Tuscola County Jail and is on a $250,000 bond.
In his mugshot, Hipkins is wearing a white T-shirt with a large coffee stain.
