As the country careens way past the national average of $5 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline, this is a clip worth remembering.
As liberal pundits and White House advisors attempt to explain how the President simply has no control over the price of gasoline, perhaps a reminder from Joe Biden himself running as a candidate in 2020 about how much influence he apparently thought he had at the time.
In the March 2020 clip during the Democratic presidential primary debate between Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders, Biden promises to drastically cut back domestic oil production.
He then promised to attack the fossil fuel industry through the removal of numerous subsidies and permits.
“No more subsidies for the fossil fuel industry,” Biden said during the debate.
“No more drilling on federal lands.” He added, “No more drilling, including offshore. No ability for the oil industry to continue to drill.”
“Period. It ends,” he stated.

This administration has gradually led the fight in the oil and gas business, and Putin is now their favorite scapegoat, but the blame can only be spread thus far.
With reduced fossil fuel production, gas prices have risen, as they are currently.
According to Gasbuddy, the national average price of gasoline surpassed $5 per gallon on Thursday, surpassing previous highs.
Biden’s efforts to reduce domestic oil production have also had a significant impact.
Gasbuddy lead petroleum analyst Patrick De Haan said, “It’s been one kink after another this year, and worst of all, demand doesn’t seem to be responding to the surge in gas prices, meaning there is a high probability that prices could go even higher in the weeks ahead.”
The Russia/Ukraine situation and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic are two reasons driving up gas prices that Biden as a candidate could not account for.
Well, there’s always a boogeyman for Biden, the buck never ever stops on his desk. Never.
