Plunging into the labyrinth of political deception, a brave investigator finally uncovers the truth that rattles the very foundations of a controversial narrative.
The much-anticipated conclusion by Special Counsel John Durham, in his investigation into the alleged collusion between former President Donald Trump and Russia, has finally arrived, and its findings are damning for the Department of Justice and the FBI, not least for figures such as former FBI Director James Comey and Hillary Clinton.
Durham’s verdict? This investigation should never have seen the light of day.
Fox News reports that the final verdict is a severe indictment of the leadership in both the DOJ and the FBI, stating that both failed to adhere strictly to the law in connection with the events and activities that spurred the Crossfire Hurricane and the ensuing need for Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation. Durham’s report underscores that the FBI’s top brass demonstrated a significant lack of analytical rigor towards the information they received, especially those from politically-affiliated entities.

A striking revelation from the report is that a good part of the information that fueled the Crossfire Hurricane investigation and necessitated Mueller’s probe came from investigative leads provided or funded (either directly or indirectly) by Trump’s political adversaries. The DOJ, however, did not adequately scrutinize these materials or the motivations of those providing them, even when the FBI Director and others were privy to significant and potentially contradictory intelligence.

According to Fox News, the report specifically refers to the leadership of the FBI at the time, particularly former FBI Director James Comey and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. Durham emphasizes the need for the FBI and the Department to acknowledge the lack of analytical rigor, apparent confirmation bias, and an over-willingness to rely on information from individuals linked to political opponents led investigators to overlook alternative hypotheses and pursue allegations of collusion between a U.S. political campaign and a foreign power without adequate objectivity or restraint.

Durham’s report soberly notes that while hindsight makes things clearer, much of this should have been apparent at the time. Hence, he underscores the importance of examining past conduct to pinpoint shortcomings and improve how the government carries out its most sensitive functions.
It’s worth noting that last week, Attorney General Merrick Garland suggested that Durham’s investigation would conclude soon. This assertion came during a Senate committee hearing where Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) raised a question about former Hillary Clinton campaign attorney Michael Sussmann, who was acquitted of lying to the FBI, which was a setback for Durham’s investigation.
Interestingly, John Solomon, founder of Just The News, posits that Special Counsel John Durham is setting his sights on the FBI. According to Solomon, Durham is looking at two main issues. One involves the last two indictments against officials linked to Hillary Clinton and their plan to feed the FBI false information about Trump-Russia conspiracies. The other focuses on whether FBI agents knowingly misled the FISA court to secure warrants to spy on members of Trump’s 2016 campaign.
