On Thursday, former Trump White House strategist and WarRoom host Steve Bannon surrendered to New York authorities, reportedly in connection with facing fraud charges related to his fundraising to complete the southern U.S. border wall.
Bannon was among several people charged with allegedly defrauding hundreds of thousands of donors through a $25 million crowdfunding campaign called “We Build the Wall.”
Bannon has pleaded not guilty to charges that he ripped off donors to an online fundraising scheme to build a southern border wall in federal court, hours after he was pulled from a yacht off the coast of Connecticut and arrested.
Among three others, Banon pleaded not guilty to charges of defrauding people who donated to the viral “We Build the Wall“ campaign on GoFundMe. Bannon was reportedly arrested on a boat off the coast of Westbrook, Connecticut.
Triple amputee Brian Kolfage, an Iraq War veteran who launched a multimillion-dollar crowdfunding effort to build a private border wall, has agreed to plead guilty to fraud charges after prosecutors say he surreptitiously took hundreds of thousands of dollars from the fundraiser.
Kolfage is facing up to 46 years in prison, but as part of his plea deal, prosecutors have agreed to ask for a maximum of 5 years prison time for the triple amputee.
According to reports, Andrew Badolato was also charged in the crowdsourcing effort where members allegedly skimmed money from the massive fund.
Both Kolfage and Badolato told Barack Obama appointed Judge Analise Torres they knowingly lied to donors in brief remarks at the plea hearing, claiming they would not take any of the cash for personal gain as the online campaign raked in millions of dollars.

The Manhattan district attorney’s office opened its investigation into Bannon shortly after Trump pardoned his longtime ally as he was leaving the White House in January 2021, reported CNN.
Bannon warned: “They are coming after all of us, not only President Trump and myself. I am never going to stop fighting.”
Bannon made the following statement to GETTR CEO Jason Miller regarding the Marxist Democrats’ efforts to take him down:
