These photos of the Civil War will put things into perspective for anyone who says that America is divided right now.
There certainly is a division in America. We see it between black American’s and police, liberals and democrats, between different races and more… But to say that the division is at it’s worst is not a true statement. Maybe it seems that way to millennials but when you look back into history you’ll see this isn’t close to true.
From IJR:
The American Civil War lasted for four years and pitted brother against brother in a bloody division which cost 620,000 American lives and tested the very fabric of our young country. Abraham Lincoln famously stated in The Gettysburg Address:
“Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure.”
In a series called “Colorized History” an artist named, Mads Madsen took heartbreaking photos of the Civil War and added color to them. The color adds life to the photos and gives a more vivid picture of what happened back then.
Unfortunately you may be right. It may very well come to another Civil War in the US. I say this because this current divide is so much more than simple political differences or policy struggles. I believe this runs deep, personal and urgent for many of us. I agree the snowflakes would melt in any real armed conflict. But make NO mistake all you lefties, there’s plenty of us to go the distance! As many of us have a hard core belief that this is a battle for the very soul of our nation. Warning….you think the jihadi’s are nasty,…”you ain’t seen nothing yet cuz”!!! You really don’t want any of this fool(s)
