During a performance in Michigan, Tuesday night, famed guitarist Carlos Santana collapsed on stage in a scary scene that ended with him waving to fans as he was wheeled away on a stretcher.
Santana was performing at the Pine Knob Music Theater, about 40 miles south of Detroit when he collapsed and set off a wave of concern from fans on social media.
After Santana was taken off stage, an employee from the concert venue announced the show was over due to a “severe medical emergency.” The crowd was reportedly told to pray for the rock and roll star who was suffering from a “serious medical issue.”
The rock star was introducing the song “Joy” just before his collapse.
An anchor with Fox2 News, Roop Raj, tweeted Tuesday:
“#BREAKING: Carlos Santana just passed out on stage at @PineKnobMusic,”

A video also surfaced on Twitter showing the performer waving to fans as he was being taken off the stage on what appeared to be a gurney. His condition was unclear, as a giant black sheet was held in front of him as he was removed from the stage.

Santana has been on a tour this year with soul-funk band Earth, Wind & Fire, which began less than a month ago and is scheduled to run through August.
There is no word on what caused this, but last year, he did undergo an “unscheduled heart procedure,” that was serious enough to cancel his December 2021 shows during his residency at the Las Vegas House of Blues.
He commented on the situation stating, “I’m going to be taking time off for a little bit to make sure that I replenish and rest,” Santana said in a video message, in which he revealed that he went to the hospital on Saturday after experiencing chest discomfort.
