Last Tuesday, Honey Boo Boo, real name Alana Thompson, from the TV show “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” was involved in a three-mile car chase in Monroe County, Georgia, according to the Monroe County Reporter. The 17-year-old was riding as a passenger in a Dodge Charger being driven by her boyfriend, Dralin Carswell, 21. Police ran the tags and discovered that the vehicle’s owner had a warrant. When the officer tried to make a traffic stop, the driver fled, leading to a police chase.
The pursuit lasted almost three miles before the officer utilized a precision immobilization technique (PIT) to disable the vehicle. Carswell was subsequently arrested and charged with driving under the influence, fleeing police, and outstanding warrants, according to People magazine. He was also ticketed for speeding. Thompson, on the other hand, was not charged and will reportedly be a witness. Meanwhile, Julian Malik Divon Williams, 24, another passenger in the vehicle, was arrested on outstanding warrants.
According to WFTV-9, Carswell was initially wanted for a misdemeanor traffic charge and was released on a $25,000 bond after spending two days in jail. The authorities also allegedly discovered marijuana in the vehicle.
Thompson and Carswell have been in a relationship for over two years, and the couple has faced criticism for their age gap and being an interracial couple.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Thompson said, “In our relationship, the two most things that everybody is always talking about is our age gap and definitely because he’s black and I’m white and we’re an interracial couple. I don’t care because, at the end of the day, my sister approves, his mom approves, and we’re happy, so what fans got to say or what haters got to say I don’t really care.”
Honey Boo Boo’s relationship with Carswell is her first public relationship, as reported by Fox News. Both Thompson and Carswell were planning on having weight loss surgery in August of last year, according to The Daily Wire.
In the past, Honey Boo Boo has tried to lose weight naturally, but with no success. Thompson’s guardian and half-sister, Pumpkin (Lauryn Efird), granted permission for the teenager to undergo the operation. After their mother’s arrest in 2019 for drug possession, she was awarded custody of her younger sibling.
This incident highlights the dangers of fleeing from the police and the consequences of being involved in a high-speed chase. Moreover, it underscores the importance of obeying traffic laws and regulations. Thompson, as a witness to the incident, will hopefully learn from this experience and realize that it is not worth endangering lives or breaking the law.
