Clarence Thomas OBLITERATES Activist Judges Who Want To Remake The Constitution

Politics

**EPIC FLASHBACK!!**

Speaking at Federalist Society dinner to honor the late Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia Thomas ripped the decision to legalize same-sex marriage saying,

“Today it is the view of many that the Supreme Court is the giver of liberties — what an odd conception of governance that We the People are dependent on the third branch of government to grant us our freedom.”

“With such unchecked judicial power, the court day-by-day, case-by-case, is busy designing the Constitution — as Justice Scalia once quipped — instead of interpreting it,”

Thomas implored judges to make the government conform to the constitution as the founders intended saying,

“Whether we in this room tonight ultimately win or lose the effort to reclaim the forms of government that the Framers intended, it is our duty to stand firm in the defense of the Constitutional principles and structure that secure our liberty.

Like Justice Scalia, we must do what the Constitution obliges us to do. It is now for us, the living, to be dedicated to the unfinished business for which Justice Scalia gave his last full measure of devotion.”

The leadership of the Federalist Society agreed whole heartedly. Leonard Leo, the society’s executive vice president remarked,

“Any time there’s a major shift in the power of government, it’s an enormous opportunity for what is probably the collection of the smartest, most talented and most publicly minded lawyers in the country to roll up their sleeves and help advance the cause of constitutional government,”

AMEN TO THAT!

  1. A;men!! It’s a good thing that this country did not elect hrc to the office of potus. We would have kissed the constitution goodbye.

  2. Yes. We need judges that will uphold the constitution. We need to stand together like the people did when it was written. Because they risked everything for us then. We need to stand by it completely.

  3. It is about time we had some balance in the Supreme court, there are too many liberal judges on it, come on guys, how can same sex marriage be something our founders wanted, we are again letting liberal politics influence decisions not based on law, when was it ever legal for 2 men or 2 women to get married, we are not enforcing the laws we are molding them to appease the more liberal people of today, whats next allowing marriage to animals?

  4. I agree that Trump has a once in a lifetime opportunity to point to appoint Judge’s like Thomas and Scalia who will protect the Constitution!!

  5. MR.TRUMP,AND MR. THOMAS THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU TWO ARE DOING TO FINALLY GET OUR .WE THE PEOPLE’S RIGHT BACK INTO PERSPECTIVE ONCE AGAIN ??

  6. That was one of my main reasons to vote for for Mr Trump so he would put the right judges in the Supreme Court and keep the constitution the way it was meant to be.

  7. Everyone who takes office swears uphold the constitution. Doesn’t that mean abide by what is written, not just your interpretation? I believe we need to go back to the original meaning and use that as the plumb line.

  8. It’s great that Trump has the opportunity to select constitutional minded judges to the Supreme Court who will direct the direction this country will go for generations.

  9. We need more Honest Judges like Clarence Thomas. He is 100% correct. The Judges are to “Interpret” the Law NOT make them!

  10. STAND BY THOMAS, HE IS FOR THE CONSTITUTION! THANK YOU, JUDGE THOMAS FOR BEING A STAND UP JUDGE FOR OUR CONSTITUTION!

  11. The American people have waited since before John Kennedy for an HONEST president. Not a president BOUGHT AND PAID FOR by our CORRUPT government ! I feel Donald Trump will fill the position with the proper individual. Someone that will uphold our Second Amendment ! Not a liberal that seeks MANDATORY GUN CONTROL !

  12. It is not up to the judges to change the constitution or the laws in it but more to interpret the ones we already have.
I am glad Donald Trump got elected so that sound appointments will be made to the Supreme Court .

  13. I’m hoping he lives up to his promises and our expectations. I still believe in our country and the constitution. I’m praying every day that we make a recovery.

  14. I have full confidence that President elect Trump will take full advantage of his position to appoint Supreme Court judges that will fight to uphold our constitution. Thank God!

  15. Yes he does I hope all judges follow the rule of law and uphold the Constitution like it’s supposed to be a lot of Judges use way out of line interpretation to overrule the Constitution that’s what protects us we the people from big government imposing their will on us

  16. The Constitution is here for our protection to keep our government from having too much Power and I, for one, am all for what our forefathers left to protect us from such tyrants who want to change our Constitution instead of protect it and our Country. We need more judges like Scalia and Thomas. We don’t need our Constitution changed. It is fine the way it was before the Obama administration and his judges decided to change it to suit their needs instead of interpreting it the way it was meant to be understood.

  17. Supreme Court

    http://tenthamendmentcenter.com/2014/07/07/judicial-supremacy-how-did-this-far-fetched-claim-originate/

    Excerpt:
In the years since the Marbury decision, the Supreme Court has relied on the words of Marshall to claim for itself unquestionable, absolute constitutional authority. But as Fisher points out, we should always suspect any institutions’ own claim on power. In fact, the Supreme Court was never given constitutional supremacy.

    Excerpt:
The framers never intended to vest in the Court final authority over the meaning of the Constitution, nor has the Court ever succeeded in exercising that authority. A majority of five Justices lacks both the legitimacy and the competence to claim an exclusive voice. Justice Byron White put the matter crisply in 1970 when he said that “this Court is not alone in being obliged to construe the Constitution in the course of its work; nor does it even approach having a monopoly on the wisdom and insight appropriate to the task.”

  18. I think the 10th amendment is specific also on the limits of the federal govt. all three branches.   Two key words: ad infinitum

The Constitution delegated few, enumerated powers to the Federal Government, reserving all remaining powers to the States and the people. Thus, powers of the Federal were the exception.

The federal government has no authority to mandate policies relating to state education, natural resources, transportation, private business, housing, health care, ad infinitum.

I think the commerce clause is overused in excess as a power issue and control method.

  19. I agree with Clarence Thomas! We must adhere to the constitution as written! We cannot allow our government to rewrite it as they choose. I think we have done well with the constitution as it was written and intended!

  20. Yes Trump has an opportunity to help us reclaim our country and should have every persons support. Just don’t let down President Trump.

  21. I believe President elect Trump will adhere to the Constitution and nominate Constitutional scholars to the Supreme Court.

  22. Our country is under attack from extremist liberals. They are being supported by the rich and powerful who want a global government. We are, and always have been, an independent nation. Millions have fought and died to protect our freedom, rights and way of life and no extremist or rich and powerful elite should be allowed to change that. What they are attempting through subversion, lies and deceit is high treason! The silent majority must demand this extremism which has infiltrated our schools, colleges, government, corporations and society be outlawed. They have shown that they are a cancer to all free democratic governments. The division they create is purposeful and is meant to create hatred and control. The open borders are meant to fill the democrats voter base and stop republicans from ever winning elections. We must unite and demand a stop to all of this bullying and attempts to takeover our country and others!

  23. Thank you, Justice Thomas! We miss Justice Scalia! We are to be governed by our Constitution. Appreciate your stand and support!

  24. The Supreme Court was designed and set up to interpret the law not write the law. They were created so the common people would be protected from the government and to explain to everyone the interpretation of the law. What’s the Supreme Court interpreted the law then there is no more interpretations of the law provided that all Supreme Court Justices agree. But to change the Constitution of the United States of America this cannot be done by the Supreme Court.

  25. Yes, that is the kind of judges we need! They are their to interpret not rewrite the constitution to suit themselves OUR any special interest group! Some things need never be changed! Like #1 & # 2 just to name a couple.

  26. there must be a law enacted, by congress, stating that any, and all, judges across this country, who rule outside the constitution be removed from the bench…that would put a stop to it…

  27. I agree with the above, the constitution needs to be interpreted and not reinvented praying for a change that honors God and country and our judicial branch of government

  28. Pray we get judge Napolitano in the SUpreme court. He is the only one I know of other than Clarence Thomas who understands the natural law. And speaks of it.

  29. I totally agree that Trump should choose
Men/women like Thomas and Scalia who will
Protect the constitution. This document should not be changed whenever someone disagrees with it.
The originators of the Constitution were brilliant
and we should be thankful it still stands as it does.

  30. I totally agree that Trump should choose
Men/women like Thomas and Scalia who will
Protect the constitution. This document should not be changed whenever someone disagrees with it.
The originators of the Constitution were brilliant
and we should be thankful it still stands as it does.

  31. There were two issues for me that were in the forefront of this election: abortion and the appointment of SCOTUS Justices. I believe President Trump will have the opportunity to set the moral climate for our country for decades.

  32. Obama has done everything in his power to tear our constitution apart. Trump will set it on a course to protect our rights..

  33. The Courts of the United States should only be interpting the Constitution as it is written, and not trying to apply socialist, liberal, or communist ideals to it.

  34. The time has come whereby these United States have chosen a President that is determined to take back America. If and when he appoints new Judges to the Supreme Court you can be assured that the Constitution of the United States will be followed to the letter.

  35. I have been forced to accept over the near 70 years of my life, many decisions handed down from activist judges that deffied all attempts at logic and reason. Before I am asked, the only legal training i have is common sense. When even that minimal level of intelligence is breached by judges who are impressed with themselves rather than the written law, then the appointment of a succeeding judges judgement is of critical national importance! YES! Trump’s choice (s) is critical.

  36. With the devastating loss of one of the greatest Supreme Court justices in the history of this country, Justice Scalia, (and the retirement of Ginsburg), Trump has the duty and the incredible privilege to Reestablish an originalist (Constitutional) Supreme Court. There is No place on the bench for Activist judges and they should be impeached. If their opinions are not in line with our Constitution, they should not be a Supreme Court justice. Any Change in our Constitution is to be brought about be WE The People in a Constitutional Convention. Their job is Not to rewrite our Constitution, but to interpret what our Founders gave us with strict adherence to their intent.

  37. He has more talent in his little finger to appoint judges than any other president of the United States in the last 40 years give this man a break he’s going to make America great again stop fighting him on everything you know how to pick judges leave him alone

  38. Trump will nominate strong Constitutionalists justices to protect our constitution and the rights of the citizens so guaranteed by the said constitution and the applicable laws already in existence.
Interpret the law, do not make law.

  39. This is really sad that so many bigots are on here. I mean really, comparing GLBT people to animals. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. But then again cannot be bigoted towards black people because they would kick your asses. So let’s all be bigoted towards GLBT people because we think they are weak and we can do whatever we want. You all are as bad as the Democrats.

  40. Yes he does have a once in a lifetime chance to do what is right and he will do so to up hold the constitution. That is why I voted for him and stand by him and men like Mr. Thomas as well.

  41. Yes, What Good are Judges that refuse to hold up our Constitution. It was put in place by our forefathers to protect the people and our Liberties. A Government for the People and by the people. If they are not willing to up hold the Constitution then they shouldn’t be in Judgeship.

  42. The Judges in the USA have only one job; they are to rule on the laws of the land – The Constitution – as it is currently written. They have no right or authority, to change any laws. That is the job of our legislative branch of the government; therefore, if they attempt to rewrite a law, they should be prosecuted for breaking the law(s)!!

  43. Thank God PRESIDENT TRUMP IS our President for if Hillary would have gotten presidency we the whole U.S.A. would be in a world of hurt right now. President TRUMP is the man for the job. WE ARE ON OUR WAY AMERICA TO MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN AND HE WON’T STOP UNTIL HE’S FINISHED THE JOB AT HAND!!!!!!! I’M SO PR0TO BE AMERICAN AND LIVE IN THE GREATEST COUNTRY GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.????????????????????AMEN!!!!!

  44. The United States of America was based on our Constitution. This is who we are unlike what the left is saying!

  45. Yes… we need judges interpret the laws based on the constitution as the founders wrote it. If the constitution needs updating there is always the amendment process.

Judges should NOT write the laws, that is congress’s job.

  46. God Bless America! God Bless our Constitution! God Bless Trump as he puts good conservative judges who are fair in office!

  47. Amen to that, I am so fed up with these Liberal judges not applying the Constitution in there decisions. They should lose there seats.
