The left’s push for transgender ideology is damaging women’s sports and the recent ban of Mid Vermont Christian School (MVCS) is an example of this agenda. The school withdrew from Vermont’s division IV basketball tournament when they learned that their opponent had a biological male on their team.
Vicky Fogg, the school’s head, explained that it was unfair and unsafe for high school girls to play against a biological male. “Allowing biological males to participate in women’s sports sets a bad precedent for the future of women’s sports in general”, she added.
However, instead of respecting the school’s decision, the Vermont Principals’ Association (VPA), the governing body for high school sports in the state, accused MVCS of violating their policies and banned them from future sporting events. This ban affects all sports and takes effect immediately.
It is outrageous that the VPA is punishing MVCS for protecting women’s sports. Vermont State law may ban discrimination against student-athletes due to their “gender identity,” but it must be noted that physical differences between males and females are essential in sports. The Vermont Agency of Education’s best practices suggest that transgender and gender nonconforming students should be given the same opportunities to participate in physical education as all other students, but this should be on a case-by-case basis.
Furthermore, the VPA sent a letter to MVCS, claiming that the school did not meet its policies on race, gender, and disability awareness. This action is a clear attempt to silence anyone who disagrees with the left’s views on transgenderism.
This ban on MVCS not only affects their girl’s basketball team but also other sports such as volleyball, golf, cross country, and track and field. We need to fight for women’s sports and safeguard their fairness and safety.
We cannot allow the left to impose its ideology on high school sports and suppress those who have different views. It is time to stand up for women’s sports and put an end to this agenda.
