Kirsters Baish| This week former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick decided to ruin his chances at ever being picked for any NFL team ever again when he decided to file a grievance against the league’s owners for collusion. This is a risky move for a man who claims that he wants to play in the NFL again. Interestingly enough, it seems as though Kaepernick is just bitter that no one wanted him on their team because frankly his skills on the field aren’t enough to make up for the liability that he is for any team.
Kaepernick’s choice to file a collusion grievance could actually, in theory, set the NFL up for failure. Mark Geragos, Kaepernick’s lawyer, confirmed that Kaepernick was filing a grievance and he explained a little more about why he came to the conclusion to do so.
I don’t think that being “treated fairly” is Kaepernick’s only goal… in fact, I don’t even think it’s his main goal. According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, Kaepernick has made it clear that his main goal has been to invalidate the NFL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement. The current CBA will be expiring in 2021.
While the CBA doesn’t expire for four more years, the NFL Player’s Association has actually told multiple members that they must save up and get ready for a protracted fight which may potentially lead to a work stoppage. The timing of this work stoppage may come much more quickly than originally anticipated because of the grievance filed by Kaepernick. Now, the work stoppage may begin as soon as next football season.
While it will still be very hard for Colin Kaepernick to prove “beyond a reasonable doubt” that every single NFL owner conspired in secret in order to keep him out of the league, it could happen. If he wins his grievance, professional sports as we know it is going to be dead.

It isn’t impossible to think about a strike that would last an entire football season. Public criticisms from President Trump along with drastically dropping ratings and and unpopular commissioner have formulated the perfect plot for the failure of the NFL. Kaepernick could potentially be the guy who destroyed the NFL single-handedly. Only time will tell what will come of this grievance.
Serves the NFL right!!! The only thing they will succeed in doing is losing money! They think they might force people to attend their games – I don’t think so but we will see!!!!
If I was ever interested in NFL prior to the “taking a knee” bull, I would stop watching altogether.
