Instead of taking a moment to reflect on his party’s stunning losses, O’Connor decided to double down on woke policies. He’s now vowing to use taxpayer dollars to help illegal immigrants fight deportation during President-elect Donald Trump’s administration.
Frederick’s “Legal Advocacy Fund” Farce
O’Connor’s plan, dubbed the “Legal Advocacy Fund,” is a slap in the face to Frederick residents. According to the mayor, the fund will ensure that migrants have the “legal support they need to stand strong and remain in this community they have chosen to call home.” Translation: Your hard-earned tax dollars will be used to fight Trump’s efforts to enforce immigration laws.
The fund will funnel money to organizations providing legal services to migrants, effectively expanding their reach. In response to criticism, the mayor’s office claimed the funds could “support any resident” of Frederick. Right, because we all know this is about protecting everyone and not just illegal immigrants.
“This could support any resident in our community,” O’Connor’s office said in a statement, as if that vague wording could somehow justify their blatant agenda.
You can’t make this stuff up. Instead of addressing real issues like rising crime, inflation, or infrastructure problems, O’Connor is laser-focused on helping people who broke the law to get here.
Frederick Residents Push Back
Thankfully, the people of Frederick aren’t buying it. Residents are already speaking out, making it clear they don’t want their money funding legal aid for illegal immigrants.
“I don’t like the idea,” said one resident. “I’d rather our taxpayer money go towards American citizens.”
Another local pointed out the glaring hypocrisy: “You break the law, it’s just what happens. Nobody helped me pay for my attorney fees when I break the law. So, why should we be paying for theirs out of taxpayer money?”
And they’re absolutely right. Americans are tired of watching their leaders bend over backward for people who don’t even respect our laws. Under the Biden-Harris administration, millions of illegal immigrants poured across the border, straining resources and leaving millions of citizens struggling to make ends meet.
This election was a referendum on exactly this kind of madness. By electing Trump over Kamala Harris, voters sent a loud and clear message: They want leaders who prioritize their needs, not woke pet projects.
Time for Accountability
O’Connor’s tone-deaf plan proves that some Democrats haven’t learned a thing. They’re still clinging to the same failed ideas that cost them the White House. If O’Connor insists on using taxpayer dollars to support illegal immigration, Frederick residents should make their voices heard.
Maybe they can pressure him into rethinking this absurd policy. And if he doesn’t listen? Well, let’s just say there’s an election in his future too. With leadership like this, Frederick might finally be ready to give a Republican a shot.
