Why This Woman Is Suing McDonald’s Is Absolutely Ridiculous!

Russia is a very amazing place to visit or live in, but bizarre events are also happening there.

Ksenia Ovchinnikova, an Orthodox Christian who was trying to avoid meat, dairy, poultry, and meat by-products for the entire length of Lent as she is observing and follows the Julian calendar that defines a strict period of fasting from animal products.

She has filed a lawsuit against McDonald’s LLC for making her eat cheeseburgers. Yes, you heard it right, but not physically forcing her to eat it.

Instead, she claimed that McDonald’s advertisements were so good, she had no choice but to eat the dang burger and fries.

The lawsuit claims that McDonald’s violated Russia’s consumer protection law and also insulted her religious practice by advertising such delicious food during lent when she was most vulnerable to the temptation of tasty burgers, fries, and chicken nuggets.

Ksenia Ovchinnikova’s lawsuit is asking for a sum amount of $14 or 1,000 rubles because McDonald’s owes her for the moral damage she sustained. Insane, right?

But Ksenia claimed that she deserves it as she was able to maintain her fast during lent. She successfully did it for nineteen years. But during this year, McDonald’s tempted her with their commercials.

She said in a statement, “By this point, I had already been fasting for a month, but when I saw an advertising banner, I could not help myself. I visited McDonald’s and bought a cheeseburger and in the actions of McDonald’s, I see a violation of the consumer protection law. I ask the court to investigate and, if a violation has taken place, to oblige McDonald’s LLC to compensate me for moral damage for one thousand rubles.”

Daily Mail reported:

Ovchinnikova is now accusing the fast-food giant of breaking the consumer protection law and insulting her religious feelings.

She blames the company for advertising meat and animal products at a time when Christians are refraining from them and is requesting 1,000 rubles ($14) as compensation for sustained moral damage.

Despite successfully fasting for the past 16 years, Ovchinnikova was not able to resist the adverts and ended up ordering a burger from the nearest McDonald’s restaurant.

I never thought that having a successful advertisement could get you legal trouble. People are absurd
