Car Dealership Confessed The MAJOR Problem People Have Getting Electric Cars Repaired…

Uncategorized

It is very common thinking among people that electric vehicles require only fewer repairs as compared to internal combustion engine-powered vehicles or hybrid vehicles. However, the concept is actually wrong, and repairing an electric vehicle is much more difficult than it is thought to be.

Plug-in electric vehicles (EVs) work in a different way to conventional cars, so they need different maintenance and servicing.

With an electric car, you’ll need to regularly maintain parts like brakes, tires, and wipers.

However, according to Fox News Business Network, the industry is warning new EV owners that they may have a little problem finding qualified service technicians when their EVs have issues.

But as more manufacturers introduce EVs, traditional dealerships are sounding the alarm over having the ability to service them for customers, the outlet reported

“The government’s wanting to make this transition and shift to EVs, and there are several concerns around that in the automotive vertical and specifically the dealership world,” says Sean Kelley, founder of CarMotivators, a coaching service for dealerships across the country.

Finding skilled technicians to operate EVs is even more difficult, according to Kelley, who claims that repair shops already face a scarcity of technicians, the FNBN reported.

However, this takes them away from the shop floor and reduces profits at a time when dealerships are relying more on service to meet the high demand for sellable used vehicle inventory amid new car shortages. Shops can also send current employees to specialized schools or training to become certified to work on EVs as most automobile mechanics are trained in working with internal combustion engines.

According to some estimates, the cost of maintaining an electric vehicle will be around one-third that of a gasoline-powered car today amid record-high gas prices in the U.S. Electric cars require considerably less maintenance than gas-driven cars that is, until the battery begins to wear out.

Batteries are the most expensive component of an electric vehicle. The average cost of an electric vehicle (EV) battery has risen by 80% in the past 10 years.

The majority of an electric car’s internal components are batteries. An electric vehicle is powered by a vast, sophisticated, and heavy array of power cells. It doesn’t need much upkeep on a daily basis, but as anyone who has a laptop or an iPod can attest, the battery life will eventually degrade. An electric car’s range will get shorter the longer you own it. This will begin to occur from the first day, but you won’t realize it at first, and it won’t suddenly cease operating either because the shift will be so gradual.

It’s possible that one day you’ll decide that you simply find yourself recharging your battery too often and you’ll take your car back to the dealership, or perhaps to a battery specialty shop, to get the battery replaced.

And when you see the bill, you’ll probably faint.
