Democrats have long claimed to champion women, insisting we “believe all women” whenever accusations arise, regardless of evidence. Yet here we are, watching the left sweep credible accusations against Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, under the rug.
Recent allegations from an ex-girlfriend accuse Emhoff of slapping her back in 2012, and multiple friends confirm she shared this story with them at the time. But while such accusations would usually trigger a firestorm from the left, they’re instead giving Emhoff a free pass. No scrutiny, no accountability — just a shrug from the same party that demands strict accountability from others.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez perfectly illustrated this hypocrisy on Wednesday, addressing a crowd at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and lauding Emhoff for his “masculinity” and “values.” According to her, Emhoff is the epitome of the “secure” man, one who “embodies values” that should supposedly inspire everyone.
From Daily Mail: “He’s not afraid to embody and pass on these values of security and this idea that you can, you can let your girl shine,” she said. “And he embodies that really well. We should all be really, really proud of him.” AOC then contrasted Emhoff with what she called “poor examples” of masculinity, which she claimed often involve “putting women or queer people down” to assert value.
Yet, she conveniently sidesteps the fact that an ex-girlfriend has come forward alleging a disturbing encounter where she claims Emhoff’s “mask dropped” — revealing a darker side of him. Emhoff, of course, denies the incident, but if he were a Republican, we know this would be plastered on every major network, dissected by every pundit, and deemed “inexcusable.”
Despite the gravity of the allegations, Ocasio-Cortez and others on the left are rushing to present Emhoff as a role model, glossing over credible concerns about his character. This selective outrage highlights a troubling inconsistency: when a Democrat is involved, accountability becomes “optional.” If they’re serious about standing up for women, why isn’t the left demanding a deeper look into these accusations?
The answer’s simple: it doesn’t fit their narrative. Emhoff’s record is unchallenged and untarnished in their eyes, leaving accusations conveniently ignored as Democrats charge ahead with their version of events. When it comes to defending women, the left is happy to play hardball — except when it’s one of their own.
