A former CIA Moscow station chief has warned, Vladimir Putin could be murdered with a ‘f***ing hammer to the head’ over his war in Ukraine.
According to Daniel Hoffman, a former CIA station commander in Moscow, Putin’s advisers will abandon him as soon as they get dissatisfied with either their own ideologies or the development of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“Nobody’s gonna ask, ‘Hey Vladimir, would you like to leave?’ No. It’s a f***ing hammer to the head and he’s dead. Or it’s time to go to the sanatorium,” Mr. Hoffman told the Daily Beast
“They schwack him for it. That’s what they’ll do.”
Hoffman added Putin’s rivals would give little warning before executing their potentially bloody move.
“These guys that are going to do it are going to be so secret about it so that Putin doesn’t find them and kill them first,” he said.
“It’ll happen all of a sudden. And he’ll be dead” Hoffman added.
Nikolai Patrushev, the head of Putin’s Security Council, Alexander Bortnikov, the director of the FSB, and Sergei Shoigu, the defense minister, are the three main people to keep an eye on, Mr. Hoffman said.
He believes that any of those three are likely to have leadership ambitions after Putin and would keep a close eye on any potential rebellion.
The ex-spy chief’s imagery conjures up the assassination of Soviet revolutionary Leon Trotsky, who was notoriously murdered, on the orders of Joseph Stalin, with an ice pick.
Meanwhile, another spy chief claims that an assassination attempt may not be necessary because Putin ‘doesn’t have a long life ahead of him’ due to his failing health.
According to Major General Kyrylo Budanov, the claims were made by Kiev spies who infiltrated the Kremlin using ‘human intelligence.’
Mr. Budanov added: ‘Putin doesn’t have a long life ahead of him’, USA Today reported.
For months, there has been speculation about Putin’s health, and it was claimed in April that he needed urgent cancer surgery.
Reports said that the Russian president also has Parkinson’s disease and “schizophrenic symptoms.”
