Lama Ali (pictured), 20, said that her professor ‘absolutely loved’ the drawing, but did ask about the hand signs. She said the act was in retaliation against her professor who assigned her class three finals that were all due on the same day
The 20-year-old said that her professor ‘absolutely loved’ the drawing, but did ask about the hand signs.
Ali said she was able to brush it off when the professor asked what the significance of the hands were as her classmates held back chuckles during her critique.
She told the professor that she merely wanted to practice more on drawing hands.
In order to understand the message written within the painting using the ASL alphabet, you must follow the hands of all her models from left to right.
Ali told Buzzfeed that her ‘secret is still safe’, at least for right now.
Her post has been shared and liked more than 50,000 times on Twitter.
For those who were trying to decode the hidden message on social media, someone was kind enough to circle the hand signals on the painting (pictured)
She said she was working in the library when the idea popped into her head.
‘After being on maximum overdrive for that long, the only thing that kept repeating in my head was “you got me f**ked up”,’ she told Buzzfeed.
‘And then I decided to write it in sign language so it would be less detectable.’

THE PAINTING DECIPHERED
With help from the American Sign Language alphabet, here is the location of each letter in the painting once it’s deciphered.
The first hand sign at the top is interpreted as the letter ‘Y’ and directly below it is the letter ‘O’. Beside the letter ‘Y’ there is the letter ‘U’, and together they spell out ‘you’.
Next, the word ‘got’ is spelled in the painting starting with the top right sign that makes the letter ‘G’.
Below it on the far right and circled in red are the letters ‘O’ and ‘T’.
The next word in the painting is ‘me’. Circled in red, is the hand sign that makes the letter ‘M’ directly beside the first ‘O’ (in ‘you’) on the top left.
And the letter ‘E’ is directly under the ‘M’ circled in orange.
Now for the rude word ‘f**ked’. Starting from the outer left side, the letter ‘F’ sign is circled in orange below the ‘O’.
The letter ‘U’ is down and to the right circled in orange and the letter ‘C’ is down and to the right slightly.
The letter ‘K’ is directly above and to the right of the ‘C’ and the letter ‘E’ is directly beside the ‘C’.
Lastly, the letter ‘D’ is on the outer right hand side circled in orange under the ‘T’.
Finally, the letters ‘U’ and ‘P’ are beside each other (from left to right) at the bottom of the painting, completing the sentence: ‘You got me f**ked up’.
